Tornado warning issued due to storm near Lynn, Swampscott

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a tornado warning for extreme northeastern Suffolk County in eastern Massachusetts and extreme south central Essex County in eastern Massachusetts, which will expire at 2:30 p.m.

According to the Weather Service, at 1:59 p.m., doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This dangerous storm was located near Lynn... and moving east at 25 mph.

Locations impacted include Lynn and Swampscott.

The Weather Service urges residents to take the following precautionary/preparedness actions: Take cover now. Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
